As part of its mission to help promoting their wine, the Uruguayan embassy hosted a wine tasting event with the purpose of educating the American consumer in the art of drinking wine and selecting the wines that would enhance different types of food.

The event was presided by Abel Sosa-Arroqui, head of Uruguay Imports Ltd. Inc (UIL) in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area.
Uruguay is known to be the fourth most important wine producer in South America after Chile, Argentina and Brazil. Its wines have a long tradition and a growing recognition in the world market.

“Despite the traditional Uruguayan technology in the art of making wine, most wineries are combining tradition with low temperature pre-fermentative maceration and with carbonic maceration elaboration”, said Sosa-Arroquí. “The technology ensures strict quality control of the products.”

Uruguayan wines are available in places like PEARSON´S Wine & Liquor Annex at 2436 Wisconsin Avenue, N.W. The same is true in many new restaurants in the heart of Adams Morgan District in Washington DC., in places like BOSSA Bistro & Lounge on 2463 18th. Street NW, ANZU Lounge on 2436 18th. Street NW, RUMBA CAFE 2443 18th, and many others.
