The area Hispanic business community will benefit from a refreshing course for some, and a learning experience for others, on how to build up their businesses through effective leadership and good negotiation skills.

Executive Leadership Seminar Series, presented by Western Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will feature topics such as Definition and characterization of a leader, the leader as a person of action, change agent, and a risk taker; the leader as a communicator; among others.

The seminar series, which will target one of the fastest growing Hispanic business communities in the nation, will base its wisdom and technique teachings on Jack Welch's latest book entitled Winning.

“This course will not make you a leader, experience will. But it will help you as a business owner understand how essential it is to learn about the characteristics and traits of effective leadership,” said Ricardo Martinez, founder and president of Project Enhancement Corporation in Germantown and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Western Maryland Hispanic chamber of Commerce.

The seminar offers the community executives the opportunity to attend on Saturdays, a total of five, and the classes will start on July 16.

“This course is about recognizing the traits of a leader, talking about and defining what a good leader is, and sharing this experience with people who want also to be good leaders or are already good leaders.

Leadership is not always about profit or loss, but building a company that the client and the market say is a good company that provides a good products or services at a reasonable price, and that is what makes a company endure, ”Said Dick Otero, president of EZCertify.com, a company specializing in 8(a) certification and senior executive management.

“The Maryland Hispanic business community has grown considerably over the past 15 years. We own over 12,000 businesses that generate $1.5 billion in annual revenues for Maryland,” says Jorge Ribas. President and CEO of the Western Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and of the Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

“Above all Jack Welch has demonstrated that business leadership requires harnessing people for competitive advantage, forging the ‘boundless' organization and pushing service and globalization. These exciting world-class principles are easy to learn and can be put to work in any company or association to provide immediate results,” commented David Boddie.

The seminaries are Co-sponsored by Montgomery County Department of Economic Development, the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, Radio Latina, Washington's Voz Newspaper, and the Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
