DC's Adu out up to four weeks with MCL sprain

DC United announced Tuesday that the 16-year-old midfielder Freddy Adu will miss two to four weeks with a second-degree MCL sprain in his right knee.

Adu suffered the injury early in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Chicago Fire when he attempted to slide between two defenders and collided with Chicago's Samuel Caballero. Though Adu continued playing, he was taken out of the game in the 35th minute.

An MRI on Tuesday confirmed the extent of the injury, though no damage was found to the meniscus. In 16 games - 10 starts - this season, Adu has just two goals and five assists.
